About the Trainer
Karen Pound provides training and instruction at Pine Creek. Her equine education began on her family’s farm, Clonmel Farm, under the expert tutelage of her aunt, Dana Pound, a well-respected instructor and trainer. Karen has been teaching and training professionally for 15 years. Within those 15 years, she also earned a BA in Equestrian Science in a competitive equine program at William Woods University. And she took every opportunity given to her, including barn management and riding jobs with Bruce Davidson and Kevin Babington. Karen has been responsible for breaking and starting young horses, schooling horses at home and at shows, working with problem horses, and teaching lessons for the duration of her career. She now continues her education in her riding and in her teaching under the training of Thierry Durand, who has been the Master Ecuyer for over 10 years with the world renowned Cadre Noir in Saumur, France. Working under the mentor-ship of these many great riders, Karen advanced her knowledge as a trainer and polished her skill as a rider. Her patient, thorough, teaching style mirrors her quiet riding technique. Karen’s slow, correct approach produces happy, responsive horses, and balanced, soft riders. Karen has coached many horse and rider teams to wins at local and USEF-recognized events.
